Leaning

Coastal Pines

Leaning

So much pain in a tree

Forced to bend and lean

Never able to run

Steadily rooted

Blooming where it grew

So much pain in humanity

Encouraged to move and be straight

Rarely able relax

Constantly changing

Growing in diversity

 Perhaps we humans and trees

Are much the same

Always leaning with the wind

  1. This photo is beautiful. The gray background seems to make the colorful foreground pop forward. This poem stirs in me the need to be flexible to live, and that survival depends on our ability to adapt.

  2. the tree, though, does not spend energy considering the harshness of its environment, humans on the other hand spend vast amounts of energy considering everything but the here and now.
I do love the poem, wonderful analogy
