Tango for One

Tango for One

The coffee’s hot the air is cool
As I sit here in this cafe on a stool
Mind wandering over raspberry swirls
Grey matter exploding like soft velvet
I am reaching to touch the slender hand
That sleeps in stillness on the marble table
My finger tips touch as it awakes to meet me
Gently my veins are soothed under the pressure
My heart pumps swiftly and my hand is taken to her cheek
She smiles me to life and leaning closely whispers
“I dance too in dreams so warm and fierce”
Then as my coffee reaches my lips
Now cold mellow honey sweet
My heart is warmed and still
I’ve danced a tango for one
I go into a night dark blue
Still dancing with you
